The Ministry of Civil Aviation has reaffirmed its maximum readiness in response to recent unrest and rapidly evolving geopolitical and regional developments, which have resulted in the closure of airspace by several neighbouring countries.This reaffirmation came as Minister of Civil Aviation Dr Sameh El-Hefny conducted an inspection tour of the operations room and Crisis Management Centre at Cairo International Airport. Mr Magdy Ishaq, Chairman of Cairo Airport Company, accompanied the minister during the tour.The visit, the ministry said in a statement, aimed to closely monitor airport operations and ensure full implementation of approved contingency plans.During the tour, the minister directed all Egyptian airports to maintain the highest level of preparedness, particularly in anticipation of receiving transit aircraft that may be required to reroute and land in Egypt due to the regional situation.He emphasised continuous, round-the-clock monitoring of flight operations and the prompt adoption of necessary operational decisions to uphold the highest standards of safety and efficiency, while ensuring passenger comfort and the provision of all essential services for affected travelers.Dr El-Hefny underscored the ministry’s commitment to safeguarding smooth air traffic operations, adhering to international aviation safety standards, and maintaining close coordination with relevant civil aviation authorities, in co-operation with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Regional Office.In parallel, EgyptAir announced the continued suspension of flights from Cairo to multiple regional destinations until further notice. The airline confirmed ongoing monitoring through its Integrated Operations Centre and urged customers to review bookings via its call centre at 1717 within Egypt.
