Health is a basic human right as every person has the right to enjoy the highest possible level of healthcare, since health enhances education and economic empowerment, while maintaining productivity and the quality of family and social life.

This statement by Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine el-Qabbag came during a presentation of Saudi-German Health Awards for 2022 held under the auspices of the Ministries of Health and Population and Social Solidarity.

The Saudi-German Health Initiative honours efforts in healthcare development, which is one the government’s top priorities and the most important aspect of social protection, the minister said.

El-Qabbag said her ministry is in permanent partnership with the Ministry of Health and Population and civil associations providing health and medical services with approval from the Ministry of Health and Population.

Presidential directives emphasise intense participation of civil society organisations and the private sector in achieving Egypt’s vision for sustainable development 2030, which stipulates that all Egyptians enjoy the right to a safe and healthy life, the minister said.

The ministry is also interested in supporting the most important national institutions, namely the family, as all international and national social studies have proven that the most powerful countries in the world have not been able to find an alternative to the role played of the family, and that investing in supporting the family system and working on its social and economic stability enhances all efforts by the government to achieve economic growth.
