Spokesman for the Egyptian Health and Population Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the ministry is dealing with the new coronavirus variant EG.5 transparently and clearly.
“The situation is stable in the country,” added Abdel Ghaffar in televised remarks Monday.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that “Based on the available evidence, the public health risk posed by EG.5 is evaluated as low at the global level,” he made it clear.
The spokesman further mentioned the new variant EG.5 is dealt with as a respiratory virus, similar to influenza viruses.
The ministry did not hide from the public the facts on any infections, he said, adding any reported EG.5 case will be declared.
Reports about EG.5 which are fanned by some social media sites are false and void of truth, according to the spokesman.
