The Ministry of Health announced maximum readiness in all hospitals and health facilities as Egypt braces for strong weather instability on Wednesday and Thursday.
Spokesman Hossam Abdelghaffar said Minister Khaled Abdelghaffar ordered full emergency and ICU preparedness, with medicines, medical supplies, and blood stocks secured. Hospitals reviewed backup power, water systems, and evacuation plans.
The ambulance system has been reinforced with 2,400 vehicles nationwide, 48 four‑wheel drives for desert and mountain areas, and 11 rescue boats for Nile islands. Coverage will be intensified on highways and in coastal governorates.
Measures also include strengthening wireless communication through the national emergency network, coordination with civil defense, and monitoring 300 flood outlets with increased presence nearby. Preventive steps cover water quality checks, pest control, and ensuring antivenoms for scorpion and snake bites are available in all hospitals.
Citizens are urged to follow official guidance, avoid flood‑prone areas, and rely on the 137 hotline for emergencies. Crisis rooms remain active around the clock, linked to the central control center.
