The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population on Sunday said that chest and pulmonology hospitals have offered medical care services to as many as 979,716 citizens nationwide during the first six months of the current year, 2023.
Medical care services have been offered to 37,516 persons at the pulmonary departments and intensive care units, said Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, adding that radiology examinations were conducted on 164,356 people.
Endoscopy examinations have been conducted on 623 persons, while up to 2,903 thoracic surgeries have been undergone, the spokesman added.
Fourteen chest hospitals are being renovated within the framework of the Health Ministry’s strategy to upgrade the health system, Abdel Ghaffar said, noting the progress rate of the refurbishing at some hospitals stands at 85 percent.
