CAIRO – The Ministry of Health and Population said that it has launched the national strategy for vaccine localization, in coordination with the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement (UPA) and Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), to meet the country’s domestic demand and export to other countries, said Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.
The Health Ministry has announced a partnership between a group of Egyptian vaccine manufacturers and more than 20 global companies and factories, with the aim of transferring manufacturing technologies to the Egyptian factories, the spokesman added.
Abdel Ghaffar, in an interview with Nile News Channel, highlighted directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi regarding the significance of localization of the pharmaceutical industry, adding that Egypt Vision 2030 aims to manufacture medicines and vaccines locally.
He added that the ministry has developed a short-term plan that will end in 2030 to localize more than 50 percent of the vaccines, with 21 agreements have been signed in this regard.
