The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has held the first scientific conference to raise people’s awareness of Mediterranean anemia and sickle cell anemia diseases in adults.
The conference was attended by members of the scientific committee of the president’s initiative mandating pre-marriage medical tests, in addition to a number of haematologists from across Egypt, Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.
The event included sessions between the scientific committee members and a number of doctors and professors of hematology on the latest diagnostic protocols and treatment methods for sickle cell anemia and Mediterranean anemia, the spokesman added.
