The Egyptian Health and Population Ministry announced that over 2,023,902 surgeries have been performed under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s initiative to end waiting lists which aims to expedite treatment for patients in need of urgent surgeries.
The initiative includes surgeries in heart catheterisation, bone, ophthalmology, tumors, brain catheters, cardiac catheters, brain and nerves, kidney transplant, liver transplant and cochlear transplant, said Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar in a statement.
All procedures and medication provided to patients were received free of charge, he added.
The Health Ministry, meanwhile, urges citizens who need to perform surgeries to register on http://wlms.smcegy.com/.
The ministry also receives citizens’ inquiries and information regarding the “waiting lists” initiative through hotline 15300.
