CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has held a meeting with the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Representative in Egypt Naeema Al-Gasseer and her accompanying delegation in order to discuss files of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Abdel Ghaffar expressed thanks to the WHO for its constant keenness to support the health ministry’s efforts to upgrade the health system in Egypt in a way that ensures providing the best medical and preventive services to citizens.
The meeting touched on promoting cooperation between the health ministry and the WHO so that Egypt would become a regional hub for manufacturing and storing various types of vaccines through the Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccines (VACSERA), Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.
The two sides agreed that a delegation of WHO experts would visit VACSERA factories to assess measures to produce a COVID-19 vaccine, ahead of being granted an emergency use listing (EUL) approval by the global health organization.
