Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar discussed during a meeting Sunday with Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Egypt Naima al-Qaseer preparations for Egypt hosting the International Conference on Population and Development slated for Sept. 5 in the New Administrative Capital under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the meeting took up the topics expected to figure high on the gathering’s agenda, along with WHO’s support to the event, especially amid great care attached to health, population and development issues and their great impact on peoples’ health and welfare.
The minister highlighted current major challenges besetting the entire globe that require further international cooperation and integration to address all issues, he said.
The two sides also followed up preparations for WHO Secretary General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus participation in the four-day event to help render the conference a success and press ahead with efforts aimed at serving health and population-related issues as they constitute a major challenges for developed as well as developing countries, added the spokesman.
