Dr Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, affirmed the deep bilateral relations between Egypt and France, highlighting the ongoing coordination at various levels, especially in vital sectors, with the health sector at the forefront.
He expressed his aspiration to expand partnership in the coming period with the aim to strengthen development efforts and achieve mutual interests.
This came during his meeting here on Monday with Eric Chevallier, the French Ambassador to Cairo, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in the health sector.
The meeting addressed Egypt’s continued support for Palestinian patients and wounded individuals arriving from the Gaza Strip, as well as the medical and humanitarian assistance provided to them. Dr. Abdel Ghaffar emphasized Egypt’s readiness to intensify efforts and provide comprehensive care, based on its humanitarian commitment to the brotherly Palestinian people.
The meeting also tackled the financial policies and timelines for implementing the cooperation program, as well as coordination mechanisms between the concerned parties. Additionally, they discussed collaboration within the framework of the Comprehensive Health Insurance System, and reviewed the latest developments in the development of healthcare centers in the Delta governorates, in cooperation with the World Bank.
In his turn, the French Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and emphasized his country’s commitment to enhancing cooperation in the health sector and intensifying coordination to support the Palestinian people by providing medical equipment and medicines, embodying humanitarian values and a commitment to supporting crises.
The meeting was attended by Dr Abla El-Alfy, the Deputy Minister; Dr Rasha Khadr, the Head of the Primary Care Sector; Dr Mohamed Ramadan, the Head of the Central Administration for Financial and Administrative Affairs; Dr Mohamed Al-Aqqad, the Head of Specialized Medical Councils; Dr Suzanne El-Zanaty, the Director General of External Health Relations; Dr Dalia Rashid, the Director of Grants and Loans Management; along with a number of officials from national projects and representatives from the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.
On the French side, the attendees included Clémence Vidal de La Blache, the Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Egypt; Wissan El-Wahab, Diplomat; Julie Gibson, Cooperation Attaché; and Aura González Arizaleta, Trainee at the National Institute of Public Service.
