Egypt’s Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held a meeting Monday to review supply chains in the health sector and ensure the steady availability of medicines, raw materials, equipment, and medical supplies. The ministry confirmed that the strategic stock is strong, stable, and fully meets citizens’ needs.
Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said Egypt has built solid experience in crisis management, enabling it to act with efficiency and stability. He noted proactive steps taken to protect and secure the strategic reserve. The minister ordered continuous coordination among all agencies and the formation of a permanent committee to monitor supplies daily and respond quickly to any changes.
Ali El-Ghamrawy, head of the Egyptian Drug Authority, reported that 55 percent of required raw materials for 2026 have already been imported. He said 80 percent of active ingredients cover more than three months of production, 18 percent cover two months, and no material covers less than one month.
The ministry stressed that Egypt’s health system is stable, flexible, and able to guarantee continuous access to medicines and supplies of high quality.
