BERLIN/CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has participated in the Virchow Prize Ceremony 2025, which was organised on the sidelines of the World Health Summit taking place from October 12-14 in Berlin, Germany.
The summit is held under the theme “Taking Responsibility for Health in a Fragmenting World.”
In statements on Sunday, spokesman for the health ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said that one of the main goals of the non-profit Virchow Foundation is to raise public awareness of the importance of global health — a commitment that aligns closely, in both substance and structure, with the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The spokesman added the annual Virchow Prize is awarded to pioneering research, major innovations, and outstanding contributions that make a significant impact on global health.
He noted that the award ceremony was attended by around 250 distinguished guests representing the German government and parliament, civil society, academia, politics, the private sector, and the global health community.
