Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said the political leadership is paying a great attention to upgrading the health insurance system.
The system is offering services to nearly 69.8 million people, he said while attending the 200th board meeting of the General Authority for Health Insurance Monday.
Abdel Ghaffar pointed out to the important role the authority will play in the coming period, saying a developed action strategy will be implemented to raise efficiency and promote health services offered to health insurance beneficiaries.
The ministry seeks to increase the number of medical services and upgrade health facilities and modernize medical equipment, he said.
He added the health ministry will continue offering health insurance services in parallel with carrying out a comprehensive health insurance system.
The meeting discussed action plans aimed at expanding medical facilities of the authority and upping numbers of beneficiaries in health insurance services.
Spokesman for the Health and Population Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the minister ordered expanding services offered by the health insurance system and cooperating with all sectors of the ministry to further offer medical services with global criteria.
