Egypt’s Health Minister Dr Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met Wednesday with Michele Quaroni, the Italian Ambassador in Cairo, to discuss the outcome of a project to improve nursing services in the Egyptian cities of Port Said, Ismailia, Luxor, Aswan and South Sinai.
Abdel Ghaffar greatly appreciated cooperation with Italy, through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), to improve the nursing services of the health system.
The minister received a detailed report about results of phase two of the project, which aimed to provide 340 training courses to 5,400 nurses in the cities of Port Said, Ismailia, Luxor, Aswan and South Sinai.
Part of the project had also to do with early cardiac screening for more than 2,000 children in the Canal city of Port Said.
The meeting also took up preparations for the third phase, which is set to be launched in the governorates of Cairo, Giza and Alexandria.
