Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar closely followed the aftermath of the tragic accident that occurred on Saturday on the regional road (Cairo–Alexandria Desert Road direction) in Menoufia Governorate.
He issued immediate directives to raise the state of maximum emergency in all nearby hospitals and ensure full medical and psychological support for those injured and the families of the deceased.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Health, Abdel Ghaffar tasked Deputy Health Minister Mohamed el Tayyeb with heading to Menoufia immediately to ensure the provision of comprehensive medical and psychological care to those injured.
He was also instructed to ensure the availability of specialized medical teams, medications, medical supplies and blood bags of all types and to prepare a detailed report on the patients’ conditions and the services being delivered.
The Egyptian Ambulance Authority dispatched 18 fully equipped ambulances, which transported the injured to El Bagour Specialized Hospital for urgent care.
Preliminary reports indicate that the accident resulted in 9 fatalities and 11 injuries, with ministry teams continuing to monitor the situation and update data accordingly.
