CAIRO- Egyptian Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar asserted the importance of cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), the European Union (EU) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) to put indexes to assess the satisfaction of the citizens on the health services offered.

His remarks came during Abdel Ghaffar’s meeting with a delegation of the WHO, the EU and the EIB to discuss boosting cooperation in the health sector in Egypt.

The meeting tackled expanding co-operation horizons between the Health Ministry and international institutions to support the efforts exerted to develop and improve the quality of the health services presented to the citizens, Spokesman of the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said in statement on Thursday.

The meeting took up cooperation opportunities to implement an initiative that support primary care services at health units and centers being implemented, the spokesman said.

The minister discussed future co-operation to support motherhood and childhood services in addition to collaboration to expand work in the services presented as part of the public health initiatives, topped by the initiatives that target early detection of contagious diseases and noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), breast cancer and genetic diseases in newborns in addition to initiatives and programs of psychological health.

The meeting also tackled cooperation opportunities to provide healthcare for the elderly and those who cannot move via home visits to ease their burdens.
