CAIRO – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar attended the signing of a joint cooperation agreement on the operation and management of the National Digital Health System (NDHS) between the Health Ministry and the company for Technology of Operating and Managing Health Insurance Services, “e-Health.”
The signing took place at the ministry’s premises in the New Administrative Capital.
The agreement comes as part of Egypt’s digital health strategy, contributing to enhancing healthcare service quality and improving public health.
The agreement was signed Deputy Health Minister Mohamed el-Tayyeb, and Board Chairman of “e-Health” company Ibrahim Sarhan.
Abdel Ghaffar said that the agreement is in line with the State’s vision to build an integrated digital health system that keeps pace with technological development and enhances the quality of health services provided to citizens, in line with the Sustainable Development Strategy: Egypt’s Vision 2030 in the health sector.
Spokesman for the Health and Population Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said that the deal aims at strengthening cooperation between the two sides within the framework of the NDHS via exchanging expertise and optimizing infrastructure and technical experience provided by “e-Health.”
This supports the digital transformation in the health sector, he added.
Under the agreement, “e-Health” will be responsible for reviewing the NDHS, which was devised by the Health Ministry, and providing a full-scale model for its implementation.
The company will also develop a detailed financial and investment model to help achieve sustainability and attract investments in the digital health sector.
It will also outline a clear roadmap for implementing the NDHS and linking it to the Universal Health Insurance System (UHIS), ensuring integration and achieving desired goals.
The spokesman added that the strategic study, to be prepared under the agreement, includes two main elements:
1- The technological and informational infrastructure necessary to efficiently operate the various systems supporting the national digital health strategy.
2- A comprehensive plan to establish and develop hospitals, medical centers, clinics, and all healthcare and preventive service providers. This will involve launching promising investment opportunities and long-term partnerships to ensure the sustainability of the system and attain its future goals.
The protocol stipulates the formation of a high-level committee by a decision from the Health Minister, Abdel Ghaffar added.
The committee will be tasked with supervising and following up on the implementation of the agreement’s provisions and presenting periodic reports to both sides.
For his part, the board chairman of “e-Health” expressed his pride in partnering with the Health Ministry. He underlined the positive impact of this cooperation on Egypt’s healthcare system, as it will improve the quality of healthcare services provided to all citizens.
