CAIRO – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar Sunday attended the signing ceremony of the Country Co-operation Strategy (CCS) document between Egypt and the World Health Organisation (WHO) for the period 2024–2028.
The strategy represents a road-map for strengthening public health and developing Egypt’s healthcare infrastructure.
Abdel Ghaffar, on the fringe of the signing ceremony, held a meeting with Naeema Al Gasseer, World Health Organization Representative in Egypt, and senior officials from the Ministry of Health to discuss mechanisms for enhancing cooperation in implementing the strategy.
The dmeeting discussed ways of supporting Egypt’s efforts to modernize its healthcare system, strengthen national capacities to achieve universal health coverage (UHC), and improve the quality of healthcare services, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Egypt Vision 2030.
The state, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, attaches great importance strengthening health systems and ensuring equitable access to medical services, considering this a cornerstone of comprehensive development and a means to improve citizens’ quality of life, Abdel Ghaffar said.
He praised the long-standing partnership between the Ministry of Health and WHO and the organization’s continuous support in advancing Egypt’s health sector.
He added that the newly signed strategy marks a continuation of fruitful cooperation between Egypt and the WHO, reflecting both parties’ commitment to turning Egypt’s Health Strategy (2025–2030) priorities into concrete actions aimed at achieving universal health coverage, enhancing the efficiency of medical services, and expanding access to healthcare at all levels.
The new framework focuses on five areas: promoting health across all life stages, strengthening health systems, expanding essential services, enhancing disease prevention and health security, and advancing governance, equity and digital innovation, the minister went on to say.
