Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and State Minister for Military Production Salah Gomblat, reviewed on Thursday work progress of joint national health projects.
The meeting reviewed a number of key files, foremost among them an overview of the projects being implemented by the Ministry of Military Production for the Ministry of Health across various governorates.
These include infrastructure projects, family development centres, and strategic warehouses, covering both completed and ongoing works, along with progress rates for each project, Health Ministry Spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.
The meeting also highlighted the most prominent ongoing projects aimed at supporting and upgrading the healthcare sector’s infrastructure.
In addition, the two ministers reviewed the latest developments in co-operation between the two sides pertaining to the Military Production Specialised Medical Centre.
The discussions covered ongoing joint efforts, including increasing the number of dialysis machines, expanding services for health insurance patients, dialysis patients, and those on waiting lists and state-funded treatment lists at the centre, as well as the possibility of providing joint replacements, the spokesman added.
For his part, Minister Gomblat said they probed the possibility of manufacturing a number of medical tools and equipment at military production factories, in coordination with the Unified Procurement Authority.
These include hyperbaric oxygen therapy units at the Military Production Specialized Medical Centre for the Ministry of Health, as well as medical screws, plates, and prosthetic devices. The move aims to reduce import costs and ease pressure on foreign currency resources.
