AMMAN – Chairman of Amman Chamber of Commerce Khalil Mohammad ElHaj Tawfiq has praised relations between Jordan and Egypt at the economic and trade levels.
Trade and economic ties between the two Arab countries should, however, be elevated to the level of brotherly relations between their leaders, Tawfiq said in statements to MENA correspondent in Amman Monday on the sidelines of an exhibition of Egypt’s Food Export Council (FEC) in the Jordanian capital.
He touched upon directives by Jordanian King Abdullah II to enhance trade and investment ties with Egypt. Both Amman and Cairo are keen on boosting trade and economic integration, Tawfiq noted.
Egypt is Jordan’s strategic and economic depth, he said, pressing for action to remove all obstacles standing in the way of integration and co-operation.
The FEC exhibition is set to wrap up here later Monday. The fair comes as part of effort to increase Egyptian food exports to Arab markets. Twenty-eight Egyptian companies are showcasing their foodstuffs in the exhibition.
