UN Climate Change High Level Champion for Egypt and UN Special Envoy on Financing 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda Mahmoud Mohieldin asserted the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects green projects is unprecedented and has mainly contributed to raising awareness about climate action challenges and its negative impacts.
Mohieldin told Extra News channel Wednesday that it is important to transfer the initiative to the international level, given it has various goals and includes different projects.
All international institutions and global major companies commended the initiative, he said, adding it offered good and innovative solutions to many issues, covering water rationalization of water consumption and clean energy generation.
Mohieldin said an important study was prepared by a galaxy of international experts to estimate gap volume for financing.
Minimum financing is estimated at approximately one trillion dollars, he added.
Egypt has laid down an integrated agenda for adaptation with climate changes, themed “Sharm El Sheikh Agenda for Adaptation,” which calls for promoting investments, agricultural projects, food security and infrastructure.
