Egyptian Minister of Local Development Hisham Amna issued directives to officials in charge of Upper Egypt Local Development Programme to carry out development plans in Sohag and Qena in accordance with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s mandates to improve public services. The remaining provinces will follow suit soon.The Upper Egypt Local Development Programme will enable government to deliver quality infrastructure and services and improve the environment for private sector development and job creation in the south.
The minister said plans for the integrated development of Sohag and Qena governorates are within the framework of Egypt’s Vision 2030 and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The government is working to reduce poverty and attract more investment to Upper Egypt by improving infrastructure and promoting tourism, the minister said.
