Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el-Saeed on Wednesday met with ministry officials to discuss preparations for the medium-term sustainable development plan for 2023-2024.
The sustainable development plan in its second year comes under exceptional circumstances as a result of geopolitical influences to which all countries have been exposed, the minister said.
The plan must focus on the three productive sectors that can support the economy: industry, agriculture, communications and information technology, the minister added.
There should also be focus on the role of the private sector in the context of the state ownership policy document to create a supportive and attractive environment for investment, Minister el-Saeed said.
The objectives of the plan should be clear and consistent at macro level, el-Saeed added, pointing out that policies must be consistent with each other.
Focus on investment in sectors that create jobs and record growth deserve attention, she said.
The main priority of the plan will be the completion of development projects that are more than half-finished, she added, stressing the importance of localising sustainable development goals.
