Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsy chaired a meeting to follow up on the executive plan of the Rural and Environmental Industries Support Fund, which this year marks its 70th anniversary. The session, held at the ministry’s headquarters in New Alamein, reviewed achievements since the fund’s restructuring in late 2024 and outlined priorities for the coming period.
Executive Director Engy El-Yemany highlighted the fund’s expansion across 20 governorates since 2025, provision of microfinance in 12 governorates, support for the “Ezraa” initiative in 16 governorates, and backing for artisans in 13 governorates. The fund has also showcased nearly 5,000 products in six local and international exhibitions, trained 445 beneficiaries through 12 workshops, and launched unified brands such as “Nahla” for Egyptian honey and “Nakhla” for dates.
Minister Morsy emphasized that the fund’s activities align with Egypt’s strategic financial empowerment program, aiming to shift beneficiaries of social protection schemes from reliance on aid to economic participation. She described the fund as a strategic tool for transforming rural communities into dynamic hubs of sustainable development by supporting local industries, promoting green technologies, and fostering innovation.
