A senior Health Ministry official conducted an inspection tour of the quarantine facilities at Cairo International Airport on Saturday to assess the readiness of medical teams and the preventive measures in place, in line with directives from Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar to ensure continuous monitoring of health surveillance systems at Egypt’s ports of entry.
Deputy Minister of Health Amr Kandil reviewed healthcare services provided at the airport, the availability of trained medical personnel, and the adequacy of medical supplies and medicines. He also followed procedures for receiving pilgrims returning from the Holy Lands and the preventive measures implemented to safeguard their health.
Kandil also reviewed protocols applied to flights arriving from countries potentially affected by Ebola. The measures include screening all arrivals, conducting temperature checks, completing health declaration forms, and collecting contact information and residential addresses to facilitate follow-up.
The deputy minister stressed that arrivals from affected areas will continue to be monitored for 21 days following their entry into Egypt through preventive medicine teams across the governorates. Any suspected symptoms will be handled immediately in accordance with approved health protocols as part of efforts to maintain a high level of preparedness at all ports of entry and protect public health.
