Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa chaired a meeting on Tuesday at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to assess efforts in securing essential commodities for citizens and ensuring the availability of production inputs for industrial sectors. The session brought together Supply Minister Sherif Farouk, Industry Minister Khaled Hashem, Deputy Central Bank Governor Tarek El-Khouly, Deputy Agriculture Minister Mostafa El-Sayyad, and senior officials from relevant ministries and agencies.
Issa stressed that the meeting reflects the government’s commitment to safeguarding the local market’s needs and sustaining industrial production, while also monitoring the availability of foreign currency resources required for various production processes. He noted that the outcomes of such meetings are regularly presented to the Crisis Committee for continuous evaluation and decision-making.
Cabinet spokesperson Mohamed El-Hommosany highlighted that the discussions focused on coordination among ministries to secure safe reserves of strategic goods. He confirmed that Egypt currently holds reassuring stockpiles sufficient for several months, despite ongoing geopolitical challenges. The meeting also underscored the importance of intensifying market oversight to prevent monopolistic practices and price manipulation, thereby protecting consumers and reinforcing market stability.
