CAIRO – The cabinet media center denied reports claiming that there is shortage in medicine and medical supplies in the various governmental and university hospitals nationwide.

In a statement Sunday, the center said it communicated with the Ministries of Health and Higher Education and Scientific Research, which totally denied these reports, asserting that they are baseless and bare of truth.

The two ministries denied that there is shortage in medicine or medical supplies in the various governmental and university hospitals nationwide, added the statement.

They also confirmed that there is an adequate supply of medication, it further said.

The two ministries also noted that relevant authorities follow up on the availability of medications in the governmental and university hospitals and pump additional quantities when required, in coordination with the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement and Medical Supplies.

The center, meanwhile, urged all media outlets to seek accuracy and objectivity before publishing news, advising them to contact bodies concerned so as to avoid sparking panic among the public.
