The Cabinet Media Center has dismissed as groundless reports of a bird flu outbreak in several governorates.
In a statement Sunday, the media center said it contacted the Health and Population Ministry, which totally denied these reports, asserting that they are baseless and bare of truth.
The center, meanwhile, affirmed that no bird flu cases have been reported in any Egyptian governorate.
Egypt has strong disease surveillance system that can effectively trace any kind of disease or virus, it affirmed.
The center, meanwhile, said that it has contacted also with the Agriculture and Land Reclamation Ministry, which denied such news.
It further urged all media outlets to seek accuracy and objectivity before publishing news, advising them to contact bodies concerned to avoid sparking confusion among the public.
The center also called for reporting any rumor or misinformation on WhatsApp numbers (01155508688 -01155508851) or email ([email protected]).
