CAIRO – The media centre of the cabinet denied on Sunday reports that subsidy on fertilisers will be lifted as of the coming agricultural season.
In a statement, the centre said it contacted the Ministry of Agriculture which dismissed as groundless the reports, saying the State continues to subsidise agricultural fertilisers, which are important for achieving food security.
It said subsidy of agricultural fertilisers amounts to 30 billion pounds, adding that the government continues efforts to computerise mechanism regulating distribution of subsidised fertilisers.
It urged media outlets to verify the authenticity of reports before publishing them to avoid disrupting public order.
