CAIRO – The Cabinet Media Centre has denied news that has been circulating regarding the government’s intention to privatise the basic education system in Egypt.
In a statement Monday, the media centre said it contacted with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, which dismissed the reports as baseless.
No decisions have been issued in this respect, added the statement.
It also stressed the State will continue to own and administer the public schools nationwide without any intention to privatise them.
Education is a right guaranteed by Constitution and Law for every citizen, added the statement.
The center urged all media outlets to seek accuracy and objectivity before publishing news, advising them to contact bodies concerned so as to avoid sparking confusion among the public.
The center also called for reporting any rumor or misinformation on WhatsApp numbers (01155508688 -01155508851) or email ([email protected]).
