CAIRO – The Egyptian government is currently adopting a programme to deepen local industrialisation and increase the added value of Egyptian productions, affirmed Trade and Industry Minister Nevine Gamea.
This came during a statement read out by Gamea before the plenary session of the Senate, under Counselor Bahaa Abu Shoka, to discuss the ministry’s plan to deepen local industrialisation and increase export rates.
The Trade and Industry Ministry is paying prior attention to the industry sector, as it considered a major locomotive for the national economy and the largest contribution to GDP growth along with its crucial role in providing job opportunities.
She, meanwhile, referred to a plan of 100 measures to stimulate the industrial sector, as per directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli has issued directives to form a committee, comprising 17 ministries, with the aim of implementing the plan of 100 measures to stimulate the industrial sector, noted the minister.
The plan includes beefing up the role of the existing control institutions on the industrial establishments, taking all the necessary measures to ensure that health and safety standards are incorporated across industrial sector and enhancing the efficiency of the export support system and expanding the base of products benefiting from the system’s programs, explained the minister.
The ministry’s plan to deepen the local industrialisation is closely related to abandon imported products for local ones, added Gamea.
