Egypt’s Planning Minister Hala el Saeed asserted that the national initiative for smart green projects aims at encouraging creative thinking and practical implementation of innovative environmental treatment in all Egyptian governorates to deal with the challenges of climate change.
The goals of the initiative go in line with the Egyptian efforts for green transition and achieving comprehensive and sustainable development, she said, urging projects’ owners from all the governorates to present their projects that present local solutions for climate change.
This came during Saeed’s meeting with UN Climate Change High Level Champion for Egypt and UN Special Envoy on Financing 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda Mahmoud Mohieldin.
Saeed lauded the efforts of the partners from the different ministries and bodies, including the Foreign Ministry, Local Development Ministry, Environment Ministry, Communication Ministry, International Co-operation Ministry, Social Solidarity Ministry, Higher Education Ministry, Youth and Sports Ministry and the National Council for Women in addition to the efforts exerted by the experts, specialists and representatives of the civil society.
The initiative contributes to boosting the interaction of the governorates with the environmental issues in development via putting an interactive map at the level of the governorates for the smart and green projects, she added.
Meanwhile, Mohieldin said that the initiative was lauded by development partners at regional and international levels.
