Giza Governor Adel El-Naggar announced the launch of the Egyptian Children’s Forum and Parliament in Giza Governorate, organised by the governorate’s Department of Motherhood and Childhood in coordination with the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM).

Around 100 children from across Giza took part, representing different age groups and social backgrounds.

El-Naggar said the initiative reflects the state’s commitment to supporting children’s rights, raising their social awareness, and encouraging their positive participation in building the nation.

He stressed that childhood issues are a top priority for the governorate, as children are a key pillar in shaping the future of Egyptian society.

He explained that the forum aims to give children a space to express their opinions freely and democratically, while helping them develop dialogue and leadership skills, and preparing them to become active and responsible members of society.

Deputy Governor Hind Abdel-Halim said the participating children carried out a full simulation of the parliamentary election process, which resulted in the election of 15 children to represent different child groups in the governorate. She noted that the selection process was based on principles of equality and non-discrimination, ensuring the best interests of the child.

Abdel-Halim added that the governorate will work in the coming period to build the capacities of the elected children, develop their skills, and support them in presenting their views and proposals on issues affecting their lives, through regular meetings with officials and discussions of their recommendations.

Meanwhile, Hebatullah Atta, Director of the Childhood, Motherhood and Child Protection Department in Giza Governorate, said the forum included a series of awareness and interactive activities. These activities introduced children to their rights under the constitution, the Child Law, and the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, as well as child protection mechanisms, including the Child Helpline (16000) and protection committees in the governorates.

The forum concluded with a closing ceremony featuring artistic and theatrical performances by children, including children with disabilities, as well as talent shows in Quran recitation, poetry, and elocution. The elected children were formally appointed, and certificates of appreciation and gifts were distributed.
