Help was at hand for brides-to-be in Gharbiya Governorate when they were gifted in a special ceremony with a full range of appliances to use in the future marital home.
Some 200 women from some of the most deprived families in the community were given refrigerators, washing machines, stoves and a variety of household electrical appliances in an initiative ‘May Joy Last’ launched by Decent Life Foundation and the Al-Safy Group.
Gharbiya Governor Tarek Rahmi attended the ceremony along with representatives from the Decent Life Foundation, Al Safy Group, the Ministry of Awqaf (religious endowments) Ministry, the National Council for Women (NCW) and Tanta University.
Decent Life also works with Al-Safy and the NCW to brief women on the threshold of marriage on various topics such as the social importance of marriage, family planning, handling domestic disputes and combating addiction.
The Decent Life Initiative, launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, is aimed at improving public services in rural areas.
