Speaker of the House of Representatives Hanafi Gebali said that a new chapter of the new republic is opened as President Abdel Fattah El Sisi takes oath for a new presidential term.
He made the remarks on Tuesday after the president took oath before the parliament.
He added that the nation is passing through a watershed stage and is facing many challenges.
Gebali said the Egyptian people chose President Sisi to lead the country and proceed with the march of development.
Speaker of House of Representatives Hanafi Gebali said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi sought to promote human rights and achieve social justice in addition to supporting women and youths.
Gebali added that the president focused on economic reforms despite the challenges facing him and the Egyptian people, especially in light of the international economic crisis.
Gebali said the president was keen to back vulnerable people to survive a stable life.
Gebali added that the president managed to maintain Egypt’s security and stability despite escalating incidents around Egypt.
He underlined the Egyptian parliament’s support for the president.
He highlighted the president’s effective role in containing the bloody incidents in the Gaza Strip, adding that the president sought to alleviate the Palestinians’ suffering.
He said Egypt has always backed its sisterly countries, referring to the president’s directives to open terminals to allow the Sudanese people into Egypt on the back of the civil conflicts in Sudan.
Gebali also referred to Egypt’s relief efforts to support Libya on the back of floods that hit a number of the Libyan coastal areas.
He noted that the international community feted these efforts, adding that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) named President Sisi as the “Champion of Peace” for his outstanding efforts to realize peace and stability in the Middle East region.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Hanafi Gebali called on President Sisi to proceed with the march of development.
He asserted the parliament’s support to the march of development in order to realize more prosperity and progress.
