The Egyptian Gazette, Egypt’s oldest newspaper in English, has issued its first ‘separate’ educational supplement for the Thanaweya Amma (General Secondary Schools Certificate) and 3rd Prep. The issue is now available at the 53rd of Cairo’s International Book Fair, and on newsstands.
Eyad Abul-Haggag, Board Chairman of Dar el-Tahrir House for Printing and Publishing, publisher of The Egyptian Gazette, highly appreciated the issuance of the paper’s first ever separate educational supplement for language school students.
Abul-Haggag said the issuance of the supplement is “part of Dar el-Tahrir’s social responsibility towards all social classes, and its support for education through valuable revisions offered at affordable prices to help students grasp school subjects.”
For his part, The Egyptian Gazette Editor-in-Chief Mohamed Fahmy, said that it is for the first time in the history of press institutions that the paper’s educational supplement can be purchased online. So, it can easily reach students around Egypt.
The move will be followed by additional steps during the second term of the academic year, and will not be confined to Thanaweya Amma and 3rd Prep, but will to expand to include other grades.
The supplement includes revisions in the form of questions and answers, covering various subjects, such as chemistry, physics, pure and applied math. The questions and answers are prepared by the elite teachers of the New Cairo Educational Administration, in co-operation with the New Cairo and Al-Shorouk Teachers’ Sub-syndicate.
Syndicate Chairman Karam Abdellah voiced content over the issuance of the first separate Gazette educational publication, which reflects co-operation between a national institution like Dar el-Tahrir and a service union that represents teachers.
The syndicate will spare no effort to offer all forms of support, including nominating the top specialised teachers for the preparing the revisions in a manner that helps achieve the goals of the new system based on understanding, analysis and creativity, a drive led by Minister of Education Tarek Shawky, Abdellah added.
