The General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) signed on Thursday a cooperation protocol with Banque Misr, as part of its efforts to strengthen cooperation with state institutions and support healthcare providers.
The agreement aims to offer accessible financing solutions for private medical facilities seeking to join the Universal Health Insurance System (UHIS).
The protocol targets private clinics, medical centers, and hospitals. It provides soft financing programmes to help them purchase medical equipment and upgrade infrastructure. This will enable them to meet GAHAR’s quality and accreditation standards. It also includes training programs to improve staff performance and enhance service quality, in line with Central Bank of Egypt initiatives supporting the medical sector and SMEs.
Chairman of GAHAR Ahmed Taha said the partnership with Banque Misr represents a strategic step to empower the healthcare sector. He stressed GAHAR’s commitment to creating a supportive environment through financial, technical, and training assistance.
This, he said, will help facilities join the Universal Health Insurance System and deliver high-quality care.
Taha added that financing will be based on detailed technical assessments of each facility’s needs. He said this approach ensures that funding directly improves healthcare quality. He also noted that the protocol reflects the state’s commitment to integrating the private sector as a key partner in the system.
CEO of Banque Misr Hisham Okasha, said the agreement aligns with the bank’s role in supporting vital sectors.
He affirmed the bank’s focus on providing innovative financing solutions to help medical facilities upgrade their services and meet required standards.
