Chairman of the General Authority for Investments and Free Zones (GAFI) Mohamed Abdel Wahab met in Cairo on Thursday with Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry Redha al-Saleh to discuss means of increasing Omani investments in Egypt.
Abdel Wahab said his authority stands by Omani investors in all fields. He added that GAFI would work to help these investors do their business in Egypt with ease.
“We will also work to set all co-operation protocols between Egypt and Oman in motion on the road to raising the volume of investments between the two countries,” Abdel Wahab said.
He called for elevating investment relations between the two countries to the level of political and historical relations.
Abdel Wahab said his authority works to enhance co-operation with the Omani private sector to increase joint projects in areas where the two countries have a competitive edge.
He revealed that he agreed with al-Saleh to hold a meeting with a host of Omani businessmen soon to explain to them investment opportunities available in Egypt.
Abdel Wahab said he would also encourage the members of the Omani private sector to increase their investments in Egypt.
Al-Saleh, for his part, highlighted the importance of smoothing investment partnerships between Egypt and Oman.
Omani companies are interested in exploring available investment opportunities in Egypt, he added.
