Egypt’s Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad urged on Wednesday the G20 to fulfill its financial commitments to allocate $100 billion as mentioned in Paris Agreement in 2015 and to double adaption funding.
This came during her participation, on behalf of Foreign Minister and President-Designate of 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) Sameh Sohukri, in the meeting held between the G20 environment ministers in Bali.
The meeting was also attended by Egyptian Ambassador in Indonesia Ashraf Sultan. During the meeting, the minister asserted the importance of providing plans to contribute to achieving the goals set in Paris Agreement, especially which 80 per cent of carbon emissions come from the G20 members.
She also noted that Egypt is totally ready to host all sides in the COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh in November.
She added that Egypt is keen on pushing forward climate action through achieving progress in negotiations to reach active recommendations.
