Egyptian Ministry of Immigration and the coordination of Youth Parties and Politicians met Wednesday to discuss further co-operation.
The meeting came as part of the ‘Young Egyptian Scholars Abroad’ initiative.
Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expats’ Affairs Nabila Makram led the meeting in the presence of representatives of the Senate and the Parliament.
Makram said the meetings and discussions between the youth coordinating parties and politicians and the exchange of experiences are very important as they help familiarise the youth abroad with the nature of political life in Egypt and their role in it.
During the meeting, Makram reviewed the results of her meeting in Nicosia with her Cypriot and Greek counterparts, to celebrate the three-year anniversary of launching the initiative ‘Nostos Reviving Roots’.
She said that they agreed to organise a trip for the youth of Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece to transfer the idea of the initiative for the younger generation and prepare a memorandum about the proposal to be submitted to the heads of the three countries.
Moreover, holding periodic virtual meetings between young parliamentarians in the three countries in coordination with the coordination of Youth and Politicians, to present the experience of the ‘Reviving Roots’ initiative to young parliamentarians.
Makram also affirmed that the ‘Nostos’ initiative also aims to transfer the developments that taking place in Egypt to peoples and new generations.
“The Greek and Cypriot communities who used to live in Egypt and the new generations of Egyptian origins are soft forces that cannot be underestimated to promote development in Egypt,” Makram said.
During the meeting, the Coordination Youth Party and Politicians expressed their willingness and welcome to co-operate with the youth members of the Greek and Cypriot parliament.
They also suggested, during the meeting, to continue holding virtual meetings with the youth who are studying abroad via social media;
Makram welcomed the proposal because of its importance in communicating with the youth abroad and strengthening its connection with their motherland.
