Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber had stressed the long-standing ties between Egypt and France, and the bilateral co-operation in many sectors.
The Cairo Governor yesterday received the French Ambassador ,Eric Chevalier, and an accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, Saber highlighted the distinctive features characterising Cairo as one of world’s the top historical and heritage cities. He also reviewed the state’s efforts to eliminate unsafe areas in all parts of the Capital.
“The Egyptian state has made great efforts in developing the infrastructure and establishing new cities in all governorates, mostly notably the New Administrative Capital (NAC), 30 miles east of Cairo,” Saber said.
NAC is expected to contribute to relieving traffic congestion and population growth in Cairo, he added, noting that the new road projects carried out under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi have significantly contributed to achieving traffic fluidity in the Cairo, and facilitating the connection of Cairo’s regions to each other.
“Developing historic Cairo and preserving its heritage is another project being carried out by the State,” Saber said, noting that this project is meant to transform the heritage sites of the capital into an open museum to attract tourism investment.
For his part, the French envoy confirmed the embassy’s readiness to participate in the future plans to develop Cairo, given the city’s demographic and economic importance.
He also stressed readiness of the French Institute for Eastern Archaeology and the French National Institute to participate in preserving Cairo’s heritage.
