COPENHAGEN – A formal reception ceremony will take place on Friday at the Royal Palace in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, to welcome President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, who arrived on Thursday in Denmark.
During his state visit to Denmark, President Sisi is scheduled to hold meetings with the King, the Prime Minister, and the Parliament Speaker.
He will also participate in several economic events and meetings. A Strategic Partnership Declaration and a number of Memorandums of Understanding in various fields are set to be signed between the two sides.
For his part, Egyptian Ambassador to Denmark Karim Sherif said President Sisi’s visit to Copenhagen is a high-level visit, organized by Denmark, adding preparations have been made that are commensurate with Egypt’s important position on the regional and international levels.
He further noted that President Sisi’s visit was preceded by a preparatory visit by Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen to Cairo in September 2024. During his visit, two main axes were announced to establish the Egyptian-Danish ties, namely the strategic partnership, given that Egypt is Denmark’s strategic partner in the Middle East region.
Egypt is also a strategic partner for the African continent and is one of the strategic axes of Danish policy in Africa, he added.
Meanwhile, Danish media outlets described as “historic” President Sisi’s visit to Copenhagen, marking the first official visit by an Egyptian President to Denmark.
On Friday evening, the King will host a dinner banquet in honor of President Sisi.
Denmark is the first leg of a three-leg European tour that also takes him to Norway and Ireland.
