Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty on Thursday highlighted Egypt’s ongoing efforts to defuse tensions in the region during phone calls he received from French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean Noël Barrot and Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi.

The top diplomat also met with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi on the sidelines of his participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.

During the talks, Abdelatty emphasized the importance of continuing efforts aimed at de-escalation, confidence-building, and creating conditions that allow for a genuine opportunity for diplomatic solutions and the resumption of direct negotiations between Iran and the IAEA.

The aforementioned steps would contribute to enhancing mutual trust and creating an environment conducive to achieving regional security and stability, the Egyptian top diplomat said.

Abdelatty underscored the importance of adhering to diplomatic path and paving the way for the resumption of dialogue between the US and Iran, with a view to reaching a comprehensive agreement on the nuclear file that meets the interests of all parties and contributes to regional security and stability.
