The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday condemned in the strongest terms the crime of assassinating Palestinian journalist Sherin Abu Aqleh near Jenin Camp in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The ministry also deplored the injury of journalist Ali Samoudi in the same incidents.
In a statement, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said such a crime committed against the Palestinian journalist while performing her duties represents a flagrant violation of the principles of the international humanitarian law as well as of the freedom of press and right of expression.
The spokesman called for launching an immediate comprehensive investigation that ensures prompt justice.
Meanwhile, the ministry offered its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and to all Palestinians over such a great loss, affirming that press has lost a great national mediaperson.
The ministry wished Samoudi a speedy recovery.
