The Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity has launched the second edition of the “Sons of Egypt League” initiative, in co-operation with City Club.
More than 5,000 players from 22 governorates, representing children of care homes nationwide, will participate in this second edition, organized under auspices of Dr. Nevine El Qabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity.
Three different competitions will be organised, under 13 and under 17 years, while the third covers age category of 17 to 21 years, to ensure equal opportunities , as well as unleashing potential of the largest number of sports talents. .
The governorates were divided into 6 regions in the qualifier stage for the tournament.
The governorates of Cairo, Giza, Suez, Damietta, Kafr El-Sheikh and Fayoum host the teams participating in the league.
The launch of the “Sons of Egypt League” initiative is a continuation of the communication and community integration initiatives, which aim to develop the sense of belonging, as well as breaking the psychological barrier and correcting some misconceptions that some have about the children of care homes. This time, the initiative was through sports and football in particular, as the game enjoys overwhelming popularity.
