CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Rania el Mashat said the issues of food and water security and energy are attaining great importance from all countries, but they are the most pressing issues for the African continent followed by the clean energy, reiterating that Egypt is seeking to enhance the use of renewable energy.

Addressing the Egypt-International Cooperation Forum (Egypt-ICF 2022)’s 2nd edition, which kicked off on Wednesday at the New Administrative Capital, Mashat also said that the forum provides a space for African government representatives to convene and coordinate on a common African vision before the coming UN climate conference, COP27.

She also highlighted the Egypt Country Platform for NWFE (Nexus on Food, Energy and Water), and discussed opportunities for cooperation with the Tony Blair Institute to adopt a regional network that can be replicated in developing countries and emerging economies, particularly in Africa.

Mashat noted that Egypt has been quite clear as regards its objectives for countering climate change and outlined a strategy for the relation between climate and development, referring to the National Strategy for Climate Change 2050 which was announced in June.

The minister praised the large attendance at the forum, terming the participating countries as development partners who contributed to the success of the event.
