CAIRO – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelaaty has underscored the need to exercise bigger pressure on Israel to force it to stop the war in Gaza and work towards a permanent political solution.
Abdelaaty, in a telephone conversation with his Croatian counterpart Gordan Grlić Radman Wednesdasy, welcomed Croatia’s revised stance toward the incidents in Gaza and lauded Zagreb’s keenness to reach a ceasefire and deliver aid to Gazans.
The Egyptian top diplomat said Cairo is keen on boosting cooperation with Zagreb in all fields, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
Abdelaaty stressed the importance of continued coordination between the two sides regarding all files of mutual concern, Abu Zeid added.
The spokesman said that the foreign minister voiced great appreciation for Croatia’s support for Egypt at international gatherings and EU bodies.
He talked about Egypt’s desire to increase trade movement between the ports of Alexandria and Rijeka, and for more Egyptian exports to tap European markets through Croatia, which is one of the important gates to the EU, Abu Zeid noted.
