Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty welcomed elevating relations with the European Union within the framework of the strategic and comprehensive partnership.

Abdelatty, currently on a visit to Brussels, lauded furthering cooperation under six key pillars, particularly the pillars of renewable energy and climate change.

He said this fell within the framework of Egypt’s key role in supporting clean and renewable energy in the Middle East and implementing Egypt Vision 2030 which focuses on sustainable development and green transition.

Abdelatty made the remarks on Thursday during a meeting with Dan Jørgensen, European Commissioner for Energy and Housing.

The minister reviewed Egypt’s efforts in the fields of renewable energy, climate, and green transition, referring to Egypt’s launch of an ambitious national hydrogen strategy.

He also highlighted Egypt’s efforts to attract foreign investments in renewable energy with special focus on European partners, including companies from Norway, Denmark, Greece, Belgium, and Italy.

Abdelatty accentuated that Egypt seeks realizing balance between economic growth and green transition, noting that the Egyptian government gives a top priority to switching to a green economy.

He underlined the importance of enhancing cooperation between Egypt and the European Union in this vital field.
