Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdel-Aati, has emphasised the importance of adhering to the diplomatic track and prioritising dialogue and peaceful solutions in order to reach an agreement on all outstanding issues, in a manner that preserves regional security and stability.
During a phone call he received on Sunday from US Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Wittkopf , Minister Abdel-Aati reaffirmed the importance of sustaining the diplomatic engagements, said the Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallf.
He added that the two sides probed the latest developments in the regional situation following negotiations held between the United States and Iran in Islamabad.
During the call, US envoy briefed Minister Abdel-Aati on the American position in the negotiations, within the framework of close coordination and ongoing consultations between Egypt and the United States.
For his part, Mr Wittkopf commended the level of coordination with Egypt, praising the existing cooperation and Egypt’s continued efforts to support security and stability in the Middle East.
He further expressed the United States’ reliance on the continuation of Egypt’s constructive role in this regard.
